Benson Polytechnic High School

Architecture, Conservation & Planning | Portland, OR | In-Progress

Benson Polytechnic High School was designed by noted architect Floyd Naramore in 1915 and is a designated historic landmark in the City of Portland. As the historic preservation consultant on the Benson Polytechnic High School rehabilitation project, ARG performed an interior and exterior conditions assessment and prepared an Historic Resource Assessment (HRA) report that incorporates the school’s history, identifies character-defining features, and summarizes the findings of existing conditions survey for the historic campus buildings. The HRA serves as a critical reference document regarding the significance and general conditions of Benson Polytechnic’s historic features, as well as a guideline for anticipated historic review processes.
